Proposed quality control and interpretive criteria for disk diffusion susceptibility testing with enoxacin.

چکیده
The standardized disk diffusion test, in which a 10-micrograms enoxacin disk is used, was performed and microbroth dilution MICs were determined to establish individual test control values with Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, and S. aureus ATCC 29213. In addition, regression analysis correlating inhibitory zone diameter with MICs for approximately 400 gram-negative clinical isolates was performed. Based on linear regression and error rate-bounded analyses, criteria for the category calls of isolates are proposed.

Development of interpretive criteria and quality control limits for broth microdilution and disk diffusion antimicrobial susceptibility testing of Streptococcus pneumoniae.
A five-center collaborative study was undertaken to develop quality control and specific interpretive criteria for susceptibility testing of Streptococcus pneumoniae against 12 antimicrobial agents. MICs were determined for 248 pneumococcal clinical isolates (with an emphasis on resistant strains) by use of the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards (NCCLS)-recommended broth micro...
متن کاملDisk diffusion test interpretive criteria and quality control recommendations for testing linezolid (U-100766) and eperezolid (U-100592) with commercially prepared reagents.
Two new oxazolidinones were tested to determine interpretive susceptibility testing criteria for MIC and disk diffusion methods. Commercial lots of linezolid (formerly U-100766) and eperezolid (formerly U-100592) disks containing 30 microg of drug were tested against 728 isolates of bacteria with defined mechanisms of resistance. Results from linezolid were highlighted because of its choice for...
متن کاملInterpretive criteria and quality control limits for testing susceptibility of Neisseria gonorrhoeae to enoxacin.
For testing the susceptibility of Neisseria gonorrhoeae to enoxacin, a proposed susceptibility category includes strains for which MICs are less than or equal to 0.5 micrograms/ml and zones of inhibition are greater than or equal to 32 mm in diameter. Because of the sparcity of resistant gonococci, a resistance category was not defined, but laboratory-selected resistant mutants were appropriate...
متن کاملMultilaboratory evaluation of disk diffusion antimicrobial susceptibility testing of Neisseria meningitidis isolates.
In 2005, the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute published MIC interpretive criteria for 13 antimicrobial agents used for either therapy or prophylaxis of Neisseria meningitidis infections. The MIC method includes the use of lysed horse blood-supplemented Mueller-Hinton broth with incubation in 5% CO2 for 20 to 24 h. Since some clinical laboratories might prefer the option of disk diffu...
متن کاملIn vitro evaluation of Augmentin by broth microdilution and disk diffusion susceptibility testing: regression analysis, tentative interpretive criteria, and quality control limits.
Augmentin (Beecham Laboratories, Bristol, Tenn.), a combination drug consisting of two parts amoxicillin to one part clavulanic acid and a potent beta-lactamase inhibitor, was evaluated in vitro in comparison with ampicillin or amoxicillin or both for its inhibitory and bactericidal activities against selected clinical isolates. Regression analysis was performed and tentative disk diffusion sus...
